I am a freelance writer specializing in profiles, promotional materials, and nonfiction features. I am very interested in food and agriculture and how the food system is changing.  My work runs in newspapers and magazines such as Salon, The Seattle Weekly, Metroland and The Times Union. I’ve written for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University at Albany, Williams College, Union College and Russell Sage Colleges.

My food blog, where I explore my family’s life in growing and cooking food, is at www.amyhalloran.com.

A teacher as well as a writer, I work with business groups and classrooms to make writing fun. I’m the recipient of five grants from the New York State Council on the Arts.

I work locally and long distance, and am ready to catch your world in words.
